SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- More than 800 people come out to fight Alzheimer’s disease. They took part in the annual Alzheimer Association's Memory Walk on Saturday.
The fundraiser was held to raise public awareness about the disease, and to help raise money to fight it in the Greater Syracuse area.
More than 19,000 Central New Yorkers live with Alzheimers. This walk was held to benefit them and the people who care for them.
"Well the disease is actually a disease for the family also. So it's very important that we support families and I think that the Alzheimer's Association is an excellent example in support of individuals that care for people with dementia related disorders," said a walker.
More than $117,000 was raised to support Alzheimer's care and research.
