BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Following Tuesday's primary, the race for New York's new 22nd Congressional District is set.

Incumbent Richard Hanna beat Chenango County Tea Party activist Michael Kicinski in the Republican primary with nearly 70 percent of the vote. Hanna will now face democratic candidate Dan Lamb, a former aide to Congressman Maurice Hinchey.

Lamb was in Binghamton Wednesday speaking with local media outlets. He says his 15 years of experience working in Washington gives him an edge over Hanna. He adds that despite the fact that Hanna won in a landslide, Tuesday's vote says something about the feelings of republican voters.

"We saw a person with relatively little money, with just about nothing to spend in this campaign, get a third of the votes and I think that's indicative of a very upset electorate, an electorate that's ready for something different," Lamb said.

Lamb and Hanna will vie for the new 22nd District, which was created after lines were redrawn earlier this year.

Hanna currently represents the 24th District.
