One of my favorite 'rides' is along the Lake Ontario State Parkway west out of Rochester along the Seaway Trail. Continue onto Route 18 west into Niagara County to find 2 great getaways!

Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse at Golden Hill State Park is a great stop along the way. After your $6 per car park entrance fee, the lighthouse has tours for $1, 50 cents for kids! A pretty affordable getaway for some remarkable history and an outstanding view from the top!

Another fun stop along Route 18 west is Olcott Beach! That's where you'll find Olcott Beach Carousel park. It's just like the good old days from long ago! Vintage kiddie rides and their classic carousel. All rides only 25 cents.

Olcott Beach Carousel park, 5979 Main Street, Olcott (716) 778-7066. Open July through Labor Day. Thursday, Friday and Sunday - 12 noon to 6pm, Saturday 12 noon to 8pm. Free admission!
