  • 'Over the River' can happen in historical style across one of a few remaining covered bridges in New York State, The Newfield Bridge in the Town of Newfield, N.Y., just a few miles south of Ithaca off of Route 13. Built in 1853, the covered bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also the oldest surviving covered bridge still open to vehicular traffic.

  • ...and Through the Woods...' Mendon Ponds Park, 10 miles south of Rochester on Route 65, to find 2,500 acres of woods and ponds! If you love nature trails, this is a great getaway, especially trails where chickadees will literally land on your hand to nibble on bird seed. Bring a bag and have fun with nature! Enter the park at the Pond Road entrance from Clover Street and a right to the Nature Center. Free parking and free entrance to the park!
