TIOGA COUNTY -- A Tioga County man is arrested after he was found breaking into his own home with a sledge hammer.
Police in Waverly responded to a home on Charles Street on Saturday night after a witness said they saw a man trying to break into a home with an ax. The witness also told police that they heard screams.
Police found Thomas Comstock, 49, with a sledge hammer after he had already forced his way into the home.
Comstock was arrested after police said he failed to follow officer's orders to put the sledge hammer down and refused to cooperate with the arrest.
He was taken to Tioga County Jail with bail set at $2,500.
