JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The trial of a Sackets Harbor man accused of shooting his wife two years ago has begun in Jefferson County Court.
Darron Morris, 43, is facing a second degree attempted murder charge after police allege he shot Sherry Morris, 36, at their home in Sackets Harbor in August of 2010.
As police attempted to rescue his wife, they say Morris threatened them with a rifle and a five hour standoff began.
Police used tear gas to end the situation, but not before Darron Morris shot himself in the head.
The trial had been previously delayed as both the victim and defendant continued to recover from their injuries.
