Gang Green received a warm welcome in Cortland. The team came parading into the city on Thursday and greeted fans on their way to what will be their home for the next three weeks. YNN's Erin Clarke reports.
CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Jets will once again take over SUNY Cortland's campus for their 2012 training camp. The last time the team was here was in 2010. They didn't make it up here last year because of the NFL lockout.
The team will train at SUNY Cortland until August 16th and start open practices on Saturday. In 2010 41,000 people came out to training camp over the three week period and poured $5.8 million into local businesses. Cortland's Mayor is looking forward to that this year and says there's plenty to do in his city.
"There's a lot of different activities going on over at the SUNY campus, however, when people get here there's a lot of nice things, great places to eat, have a beverage, shops to do a little shopping in. So there's a lot of different things people can do," said Cortland Mayor Brian Tobin.
Open practices start tomorrow at 8 a.m.
This year there is something new to go along with training camp: Jets Fest, a theme park with inflatable rides and games.
