UTICA, N.Y. -- Two Utica Common Council members are calling on the FBI to release an update on their investigation into the practices of GroWest. Councilmen James Zecca and Frank Vescera announced their plans to also propose an audit of the corporation's dealings Department of Urban and Economic Development from two state departments on Sunday.
The city released an independent investigation into the matter in 2010, questioning GroWest's use of state and federal grant funds. The FBI began their own investigation, of which no results have been made public.
Vescera said he spoke with FBI last week, and was told they could not comment on any investigations.
"I think at this point, and many people think at this point, that that is really not an acceptable answer, going now over two years," said Vescera.
Vescera and Zecca have authored a proposal for an audit of the questionable city finances that is now in the council's financial committee.
