The Spa Spot: NYRA timing perfect with turf racing before storm
Timing is everything in life and sports and the New York Racing Association got it right Monday at Saratoga Race Course.
NYRA scheduled all five of the turf races at the beginning of its program and the last one was run at 3:13 p.m., several minutes before a thunderstorm dumped a bunch of rain on the track. So no turf races were lost to the weather.
The storm was intense, but passed quickly and racing resumed with five dirt races to complete the card.
