The Spa Spot: Refunds on horse in first race that wasn't scratched
Paws Up ran for purse money only in the first race Wednesday and wagers on the filly were refunded due to confusion over whether the filly had been scratched.
About two minutes before the scheduled post time, track announcer Tom Durkin said that because there were reports that the filly had been scratched refunds would be made. Actually, the other half of the Fox Ridge Farm entry trained by Pat Kelly, Rough Winter, had been scratched earlier in the day.
Paws Up finished last in the field of nine in the $40,000 claiming race.
