The Spa Spot: Lady Utopia wins fifth at 70-1
Lady Utopia pulled off the upset of the meet thus far, winning the fifth race Sunday at odds of 70-1. She paid $142.50.
It is the largest won payoff at Saratoga Race Course since Slambino returned $179 on August 23, 2008.
Thirty Minutes finished second at 44-1 and paid $36 to place.
The 8-6 exacta of Lady Utopia and Thirty Minutes paid $2,152. The trifecta paid $18,910 and the superfecta paid $97,456.
Lady Utopia was making the third start of her career in the $35,000 race for maiden claimers. She is owned by Guy LaMotta and trained by Gabriel Goodwin.
An hour later, long shot Majestic Raffy won the seventh race, paying $36. The second-place horse, Scorcher, paid $32.80 to show. The Majestic Raffy-Scorcher exacta paid $784. The Pick 3 that started with Lady Utopia and ended with Majestic Raffy returned $19,786.
