Haskell Invitational winner Paynter had an elevated temperature Tuesday, which could keep him out of the Travers Stakes at Saratoga on August 25.
Trainer Bob Baffert scrapped plans to ship the colt back to California and will have him stay at Monmouth Park while he is being treated. Paynter will be banned to Saratoga, possibly later this week, Baffert said.
