Hansen, last year's 2-year-old champ, is running in the West Virginia Derby this afternoon, which makes it a Travers prep race.
The $750,000 race has a post time of 5:45 p.m., the same time that the Grade 1 Whitney will be run at Saratoga Race Course. Hansen is coming off a win in the Iowa Derby and will be the favorite at Mountaineer Park. A good performance is likely to carry him on to Saratoga for the Travers on August 25.
