Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. was unseated and fell to the ground during the sixth race Saturday when his horse, Mightylover, clipped heels with another runner and stumbled.

Ortiz, who is scheduled to ride Questing in the Grade 1 Alabama, was taken to first aid for a check up and cleared to continue riding. He was aboard Hello Lover in the seventh. Mightylover did not not suffer any apparent injuries.

The incident occurred near the five-sixteenths pole on Mellon turf course when jockey David Cohen moved his gelding Fast Grievance to the outside and into Mightylover's path. Fast Grievance went on to finish second in the race.

In the third race Friday, Ortiz, 20, sustained an ankle injury when the horse he was riding acted up in the gate. He was taken to Saratoga Hospital where X-rays showed that he did not fracture any bones.
