LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- One question that remains, is why was the driver on the Onondaga Lake Parkway in the first place? Coach USA officials say it was not part of the bus's route. And they, along with the local sheriff's office, are now investigating why he was there.

Many people who live in the area are familiar with the low clearance bridge on the Parkway and know that it is not a truck or bus friendly road.

"We don't know why he was on this road. We think he probably got on the wrong road. He may have been going to the Regional Transportation Center either to pick somebody up or drop somebody off. Those are all things we are trying to confirm. The bus driver is injured. He is in the hospital. He is cooperative but with a head injury he is kind of unclear as to exactly what happened," said Sheriff Walsh.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Department says the driver will likely face at least one traffic violation, but any criminal charges will be determined later in cooperation with the district attorney's office.
