SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Small businesses account for more than 90 percent of the companies in New York State and Governor Cuomo's administration is trying to make it easier on those owners and anyone looking to start up their own business.

Representatives from six state agencies presented a business outreach workshop Tuesday night at the South Side Innovation Center. The idea was to make sure people understand what free services are available to them.

Resources range from financial services to technical assistance. There are even agencies that can help create manuals free of charge.

Officials say the tools are there, you just have to know where to look.

"It is not that difficult. It is not that difficult to open up a business in this state and it's not that difficult to reach out to government to assist you in helping to grow your business," said Alphonso David, Deputy Secretary to the Governor.

More than a hundred people showed up to Tuesday's workshop. The next one will be held Wednesday in Watertown.
