MASSENA, N.Y. -- A business owner in Massena has stepped in and used his own equipment to help the village repair a section of road.
With a price tag of roughly $100,000, the Village of Massena couldn't afford to make the necessary repairs to Commerce Drive. Local businesses rely on the road, so one of those business owners, Patrick Curran, used his own resources to remove and replace the 8,000 tons of gravel. The Massena Village Department of Public Works then repaved the road.
When the entire country is struggling financially, both Curran and village officials agree that without such examples of private and public cooperation, it will be hard to survive.
