JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Anne Delaney and her four grandchildren watch "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on television and hope one day they'll be the ones cheering.

After Anne's husband died four years ago, the Pamelia woman became a single mother, adopting her stepson's four children.

"It's probably one of the most difficult things I've ever done. It's a full time job taking care of them, keeping up with the laundry and the dishes. They've had a lot of adjustments to make. They've made a lot of sacrifices," said Delaney.

"When we first moved in, Grandma, she gave up her room for us. She was sleeping on the couch for over a year," said Bethaney Delaney, who is 15.

Since taking in the kids, conditions in Delaney's mobile home have deteriorated.

"I was walking in my room and my foot went right through the floor," said Bethaney Delaney.

"Me, Bethaney and Jenna share a room and I don't like that. And I don't like our beds on the floor," said eight-year-old Camille Delaney.

The home's poor conditions and concern for the welfare of her grandchildren led Anne to apply for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

"I filled it out and a year later, I still hadn't sent it in yet. I just kept watching the program and thinking, 'Oh those poor people need it more than I do,'" said Anne Delaney.

Anne sent the application in this July and now she awaits a decision. One they say could change their life.

"If we have our own space, we'll get along better as a family because we do get frustrated more because it's so crowded in here," said Bethaney Delaney.

"It would mean, I think, a more peaceful atmosphere and having things that work. Not having to call someone constantly to fix this or fix that," said Anne Delaney.

As Anne and her family sit and watch the popular television program, they hope their story will grab the attention of the show's producers, so that it might be their turn for a dream come true.

Anne is not able to work because of a medical condition. She says if they family doesn't get picked for the show, they'll keep chugging along, but she doesn't know what will happen.
