POTSDAM, N.Y. -- One North Country community hopes new media can help boost business. The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Twitter 101 class to help local businesses learn more about the benefits of the online networking site.

The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce has held similar "new media" seminars in the past for sites like Twitter and Facebook and as they gain momentum in the online community, the Chamber Executive Director sees similar opportunities for business growth.

"Businesses are looking for other ways to get their names out into the public eye and some of these new technologies, like Twitter, might be sources that they can go to to look for new customers," said Marylee Ballou, Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.

So far, about a dozen businesses have signed up to participate. The Twitter seminar will be held at noon on Thursday in downtown Potsdam.
