State Police say Robert Rochefort, 17, was driving westbound on Route 37 when he went off the road and hit a pole. Rochefort was killed on impact. A passenger in the car was also hurt. They are being treated at Massena Memorial Hospital and are in serious, but stable condition.

State Police say at this point, they don't know what caused the teen to lose control. They are still investigating.
