NORTH COUNTRY, N.Y. -- Conservative Republican Doug Hoffman says he will run for the 23rd Congressional District seat.
Hoffman campaigned for the position last year in a special election to fill the seat after John McHugh left to become the Secretary of the Army. Hoffman lost to Democrat Bill Owens.
On Monday, the Lake Placid businessman sent a letter to 20,000 of his supporters announcing his candidacy.
Last year, he ran on the Conservative Party line in what became a controversial race. He promises this year he will work to reunite conservatives and republicans.
