WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Senior citizens in Jefferson County received a Thanksgiving feast early. About 400 turkey dinners were plated at the Elks Lodge in Watertown Sunday.
This was their 19th annual dinner to give back to local seniors and continues to be a huge event in the community.
Organizers say they enjoy serving up this traditional dinner to friends, neighbors and those who might not have the holiday meal if it wasn't for this event.
"It makes you feel really good to be able to do this for them. They enjoy coming and seeing the smiles on their faces. It makes you feel real good," said Cathy Converse, Elks Lodge Exalted Ruler.
Volunteers started preparing for the big feast Saturday, cooking turkeys and making sure everything was ready on time.
