POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Congressman Bill Owens traveled around the North Country Monday to hear from small businesses. One of his stops was Potsdam Specialty Paper.

Owens took a tour of the facility to further understand how the company functions. He says he is going to work with the company to help find ways to save money, specifically implementing a biomass energy system. This alone would save Potsdam Specialty Paper a million dollars a year in utilities.

Congressman Owens also held an open discussion with the managers of workforce development agencies at St. Lawrence University. The group discussed strategies to fill the 3,400 unfilled jobs in North Country.
