Warm temperatures benefit one ski resort
It doesn't feel like the end of November outside and ski resorts are definitely feeling the heat. But as our Cara Thomas explains, one ski center is grateful for the late start.

MALONE, N.Y. -- Many resorts in the Adirondacks and North Country have yet to open because of the high temperatures. Ski resorts say these warm temperatures are putting them a little behind.
"Mother Nature is hard to predict," says Brian Monette, new co-owner of Titus Family Ski Center/Titus Mountain in Malone.
While Titus Mountain in Malone doesn't have a single flake of snow on the ground, other ski resorts in the area are having better luck.
Shawn Sherwin, Director of Operations, says, "Some are in higher elevations where they are getting a little bit colder weather, they're able to use their guns and stuff."
Titus Mountain had people skiing around Thanksgiving last year, but this year, with the warm weather, they're actually grateful for the late start.
"I've had a lot of people say ‘geez, I can't believe your bad luck,’ but it's been really beneficial to us because this place was a little tired and needed a lot of work, so we needed a little break before the season could start. It worked out well for us," says Monette.
Many new improvements and renovations kept employees busy this fall. With new owners coming into the picture, there was a lot to do and they just needed a little bit more time. But Brian Monette says they are ready now.
"I think when they walk in for the first time and see all we did, they're going to be like wow, at least that's what we're hoping for. I'm very excited in one breath and nervous in the next," says Monette.
Monette and his two brothers are the proud new owners of the newly renamed Titus Family Ski Center. Their goal: To make Titus a great family destination. And even with the late start, Titus employees are confident this is going to be a great year.
"I think we're going to be so successful that we're going to have to plan on making this place bigger," says Sherwin
Titus plans to begin making snow overnight. They say at least two to three feet of snow is needed before the hill is ready for skiers.
The Monette brothers plan to open on December 16th.
