NORTH COUNTRY, N.Y. -- Canadian and U.S. authorities busted a drug trafficking operation.

Tuesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police executed warrants and arrested Jacques Perreault, Yvan Chandler, Denis Vachon and Nick Varacalli in Quebec.

Earlier this year in the Northern District of New York, they, along with co-defendant Michel Cote, were indicted on a number of charges, including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and conspiracy to launder monetary instruments in addition to other charges.

It was a two year long investigation conducted by a number of agencies including the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Drug Enforcement Administration in Plattsburgh.

The DEA says this was a multimillion dollar drug operation. Some of the men could face up to life in prison, a $10 million fine or both.
