ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A fire destroys a mobile home in the Town of Fowler.

The Gouverneur Fire Department arrived at the Gulf Road home just before 6:30 Sunday morning. Six people were in the home at the time.

One person burned their hands while trying to go back in to look for another family member who had already gotten out. The person was taken to EJ Noble Hospital in Gouverneur for treatment.

At least four dogs and six cats died in the fire.

Fire officials said the home is destroyed and they believe a furnace malfunction may have caused the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
