In New York City, record breaking crowds packed Times Square to watch the ball drop at midnight. Millions of others watched the big bash on TV around the world. People started piling into times square early in the evening, thanks to the lack of snow and warmer weather.

In Rochester, thousands gathered downtown and along the Genesee River to watch the fireworks over the Frederick Douglass-Susan B. Anthony Memorial Bridge.

In Syracuse, thousands showed up at Onondaga Lake Park for First Night CNY. An Orange Ball dropped at midnight.

In Saratoga Springs, organizers were hoping for 20,000 people at First Night Saratoga. This year's theme was "arts unleashed," with 35 venues, 70 different events and performances.
