WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- As lake effect snow continues to move through Upstate New York, many local ski areas are still lacking the snow they need to operate.
Watertown's Dry Hill Ski Area is working to open six of their seven slopes after opening two weeks ago. Without Mother Nature's cooperation, packing the hills with snow has been a slow process this season. Skiers and owners have both become frustrated with the warm temperatures, but say they're excited for the weeks to come.
Thirteen-year-old Jada Goodman said, "It made me kind of mad because when it finally came, it kept melting. I was getting pretty frustrated."
Dry Hill Ski Area owner Tim McAtee said, "We do have some good snow making coming up, we've got a little bit of snow in the forecast, we did get our tubing park open this weekend. We're plugging along and I think by next weekend, we'll be in really good shape."
Dry Hill hopes to open one of their more advanced trails within the next week.
