City police officer hurt during arrest attempt
WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- A Watertown Police officer ended up with minor injuries after trying to chase down a shoplifter.
Officer William Rafferty suffered cuts to his nose and hand Thursday afternoon trying to avoid a punch.
Police were chasing the man they say had just stolen items from the Family Dollar in Watertown. The suspect was found at the J.B. Wise Parking lot.
Rafferty did not go to the hospital, but will see a doctor.
