Teller pleads guilty to grand larceny
ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A former teller at Seacomm Federal Credit Union in Massena admitted to stealing from customers' accounts. Ashley Ayotte pleaded guilty to third degree grand larceny Tuesday after being accused of making false transactions and withdrawals from at least six people's accounts.
The thefts added up to $23,500. Police say the money was stolen to feed a drug addiction, which apparently continues to be a problem.
While in court on Tuesday, the judge said Ayotte had been caught trying to cheat a drug test not once, but twice. She was sent to jail without bail.
The judge is now considering treatment options.
