WATERTOWN, N.Y. - -A family was welcomed into their new home with friends and community leaders in Watertown Saturday.
The Thousand Islands Habitat for Humanity completed their build on West Lynde Street, giving the Shear family a new safe space to call home. Many volunteer hours were put into building the home, and more than 900 hours of help was given by the Shear family members themselves.
They say they feel blessed to have such a place to call home and raise a family, but are even more thankful for the help that they've been given.
New homeowner Jennifer Shear said, "Thank you, just thank you, I think the words used a lot but I really do mean thank you. It's very sincere. It's been a long process and to go back and see everyone who's helped, it's amazing how many people have come helped ."
Habitat for Humanity is working to make their next project a ‘Women’s Build’. They have yet to secure a location for their next home, but plan to partner with Neighbors of Watertown.
