FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two people were killed when their car went off the St. Regis River Bridge on Route 37 in Franklin County. Police said at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, their car crossed over the center line on the bridge, hit the guard rail, and went into the river in Akwesasne.

A little more than two hours later, crews pulled Jacob Light, 23, and Sheyanne Smoke, 23, from the vehicle. They were taken to separate hospitals where both were pronounced dead.

Police are still investigating the accident.
