ITHACA, N.Y. -- The prosecution called more witnesses to the stand Monday in the trial of Corbin Whyte.

The Ithaca native is accused of murder for the shooting death of Paul Garcia, 47, back in December of 2010.

Garcia was found shot in the chest in the parking lot of the Maple Hill apartments. Neighbors who lived in surrounding apartments testified about what they heard and saw the early morning of December 7th.

Whyte's next door neighbor said he saw two men interacting with Garcia, one of them he identified as Whyte, who ran away from the scene after Garcia was shot.

The defense questioned inconsistencies in the neighbor's story. The witness said he did not give all of the details to police at first, because he feared for his own safety.

A woman who lived in an apartment near Garcia also testified that she heard a gunshot and Garcia screaming, but said she didn't see or hear any other people in the area.

The prosecution will continue to call witnesses Tuesday.

The trial is expected to last three weeks.
