TRIANGLE, N.Y. -- Smoke continues to rise from the debris of a fire that killed two people in Broome County Saturday night.

Police believe the fire in the town of Triangle was intentionally set by one of the homeowners. They said there was an argument between a husband and wife... the husband tied her up, cut her legs and then threatened to burn the house down with him and their three year old child inside.

A video was sent to us by a viewer of the scene when firefighters arrived around 8 p.m. Saturday. After flames died down, the remains of two people were found inside. They have not yet been identified, but investigators said the woman did escape and was taken to Wilson Hospital, where there's no word on her current condition.

For neighbors, it's been a shocking and saddening series of events.

Silas Secoolish, a Triangle resident said, “It’s a sad thing about the little girl, she just played outside the other day. It’s kinda rough on the kids to hear something like this."

Investigators are not releasing the family's name at this time, and don't plan to release any new information until Monday.
