WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- The City of Watertown has agreed to shut down Washington Street for a day to allow the producers of the Fireball Run adventure rally to use the area as a finish line.
Initially when told of the plan to use the Washington Street area around Flower Library as the finish line for the rally's stop in Jefferson County, the city didn't want to shut down a busy street during a business day. The event will be Tuesday, September 25th from 12 to 6 p.m.
Fireball Run, based out of Universal Studios, is an adventure rally where teams drive from city to city competing in challenges while a movie is made highlighting what each city has to offer. But the run's producers told Watertown if the street couldn't be used, it would move the finish line to battlefield at Sackets Harbor.
Thursday, the city agreed to close the road and the producers will decide where exactly the finish line will be Friday.
