SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- 'Stop the violence' was the obvious message in Syracuse's Columbia Circle on Friday afternoon. Media Unit is a national award winning performance and production troupe that has been in operation for 35 years.

Friday's show was titled "Angels With Broken Wings...Open Your Hearts to the Arts." The hope is to get more teens involved in the arts and to stay away from violence.

"We get pieces from the justice center and they kind of help us out, learning about the streets and what kind of goes on, and we try and prevent as much gang violence as we can with our message," said Ana-Rachel Richardson, Cast Captain and performer.

The Media Unit has more performances planned at city parks, and for men and women at the Justice Center.
