SYLVAN BEACH, N.Y. -- Three days after three people died in a boat accident on Oneida Lake, rescue crews were back on the water helping to save several people from their sinking boat. The Oneida County Sheriff's Department reports that around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, a 22 foot cabin cruiser vessel struck an object in the water and became lodged on it.

The boat than began to take on water. The Sylvan Beach Rescue boat arrived before anyone was hurt. Three people were taken to shore, but the boat did eventually capsize and sink in 8-10 feet of water.

The sheriff's office is still investigating what happened on Thursday night when a boat hit a concrete buoy on Oneida Lake, killing a father and two sons, and injuring another. The boat was recovered Saturday, and while officials have yet to release the findings of their investigation, family members of the victims tell the Associated Press that the men were distracted by fireworks at the time the crash happened.
