SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse firefighters battled the heat outside Monday night while putting out a house fire at 402 Temple Street. It was first reported around 1020 pm.
Fire officials believe that it started on the first floor, and spread to the porch, front grass and tree, and two more floors in the house. Officials said one firefighter was hurt by a falling object but that his injuries were minor.
"Well there's extensive damage throughout the house but there's a lot of house here. It's probably salvageable if someone has the intention to salvage the house," said Deputy Chief Steve Cavutor from the Syracuse Fire Department.
Officials believe the house was vacant but undergoing renovations. The cause remains under investigation.
