BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A not guilty plea Tuesday morning from the Broome County woman accused of animal cruelty.
Christine Macan was charged after dead and emaciated dogs were removed from her Conklin home. Authorities said the dogs were living in horrific conditions, covered in feces. Other animals, including rabbits and hamsters, were also removed from the home.
Due to what the judge called a history of failing to appear in court, Macan was sent to the Broome County jail with $500 bail.
