MANLIUS, N.Y. -- Runners of all ages came together to help raise money for athletics in the Fayetteville Manlius School District. The F-M Sports Booster Club organized the inaugural Fay-Man Race of Champions on Sunday.
In addition to a certified 5K race, there was also a 1K kids fun run. Organizers said the event is about protecting sports in a difficult time for school districts.
"We were told there may be a chance that we would have to supplement them in the near future, and we want to just get a head start on all of this, so when it does happen, we'll be ready. From modified up, we don't want anything to get cut," said Marnie Carter, Race Director.
The booster club hopes to raise about $15,000 from the event.
