AURORA, CO – The world has gotten its first look at the man accused killing a dozen people inside a Colorado movie theater.
James Holmes, 24, showed little emotion at his first court appearance. He appeared dazed with his eyes drooping as the judge advised him of the case.
Holmes is accused of killing 12 people and wounding 58 others at a midnight premiere of the new Batman movie early Friday morning.
The judge said he will be formally charged next Monday. Prosecutors said they may consider the death penalty.
Officers spent the weekend disarming booby traps at his apartment, which they say were designed to injure or kill anyone who tried to get in.
Meanwhile, a vigil took place Sunday night across the street from the movie theater where the shootings happened. People gathered to sing, pray, and leave tokens of remembrance.
