BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A Binghamton man is facing arson charges after authorities say he tried to set his wife's house on fire.
Broome County Sheriff's deputies say they first arrested Richard Hadley Junior, 40, on Saturday for menacing his wife. An order of protection was issued, but after posting bail, detectives say Hadley returned to the house on Sunday.
Deputies arrived to find that he had poured gasoline in the home's basement, first floor, and himself and was attempting to light the house on fire. They say he had also destroyed items all throughout the residence.
Hadley is now being held without bail and faces multiple charges including arson and reckless endangerment.
