SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A season's worth of free ice cream is up for grabs at Peter's Polar Parlor in Syracuse. The owner is still looking for information on who burglarized his ice cream shop last Tuesday, and is offering up his own treats.
He says someone broke into the shop around 4 a.m. and stole the safe and some envelopes of money. He said one of the windows was shattered and paper was everywhere. The owner says the loss of money is tough on the shop.
"We're trying hard to make a living, we haven't raised priced in three years because we want to give the community a break at a time when prices are going up on everything. As long as we can, we hold the price, but it's tough, we take the bite, and when things like this happen it makes it that much harder," said Peter Haun, Peter's Polar Parlor owner.
Police are currently looking through the surveillance video from the car wash next door. Anyone with information is asked to call the Camillus Police Department at 487-0102.
