Man arrested for stealing from landowner
OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- A former Otsego County man has been arrested for stealing more than $15,000 in timber from a landowner in the Town of Pittsfield.
The Otsego County Sherriff’s office says that in the fall of 2009, Aaron VanDusen, 37, contracted with the property owner to cut timber off of his Ketchum Road site. They say that VanDusen cut approximately $45,000 worth of timber, but only paid the landowner $7,000.
The Sheriff's office was alerted about the theft and located VanDunsen Monday. He was arrested and charged with grand larceny.
If convicted, VanDunsen faces up to seven years in prison.
