SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police say the abduction in the parking lot of the Price Chopper on Erie Boulevard wasn't an abduction at all, it was a hoax. The surveillance video was released showing a woman being placed into a trunk Monday night in the parking lot of the supermarket.

In the video, a man gets out of a car, opens a rear door, and lifts a woman from the seat. He then carries her to the rear of the car and places her in the trunk.

After releasing the video to the public, and photos of potential witnesses, police say three teens came forward and admitted they were behind the prank. They say they got the idea from a stunt they saw on the TV show ‘Jackass’, but police aren't laughing.

"This is the type of incident that we don't take lightly. Especially if this is something that had truly happen. Again we just implore people, don't do stupid things like this because this really did cause us to have to put a lot of manpower, a lot of hours of investigation... pull people off of investigations that are truly important," said Sgt. Tom Connellan, Syracuse Police.

A 17-year-old boy and two juvenile females were the ones involved. Their names are not being released at this time because of pending charges.
