CORNING, N.Y. -- Corning Incorporated says sales fell five percent in the second quarter when compared to a year earlier. The company says sales for the quarter came in at $1.9 billion, down from more than $2 billion in 2011. Net earnings were also down by nearly 40 percent, coming in at $462 million.
The company says sales in their Telecommunications and Specialty Materials segments both increased and price declines for LCD glass were much more moderate in the second quarter.
