Driver charged with DWI in Ellisburg crash

JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office is investigating a crash in Ellisburg. It happened around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday.
Deputies say Joshua Lancaster, 23, was driving down State Route 193 when his vehicle went off road and collided with the front steps of the Ellisburg Country Store. The engine caught fire but deputies say bystanders were able to get everyone out of the vehicle.
Lancaster and a passenger were taken to Samaritan Medical Center by ambulance, and a third person was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Deputies tell us that the building was vacant but undergoing renovation work.
Lancaster was charged with DWI, and ticketed for speeding.
