OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Oswego Police are looking for witnesses to a fight overnight that put two men in the hospital.
Police say around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, multiple fights broke out as a large group of people gathered on West Bridge Street.
Two 20-year-old men from Rochester wound up being hurt. One was taken to Oswego Hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released. The other was driven to Rochester General Hospital with more serious injuries, including broken facial bones and a possible skull fracture.
Investigators say there was a verbal altercation that led up to the fight. They are still investigating, but it appears alcohol was involved.
"When you have a large number of people and you mix in alcohol, you do have the potential for violence and unfortunately this is one of the side effects," said Oswego Police Chief Tory DeCaire.
Police have arrested three suspects: Angel Lopez, 21, of Oswego, Jordan Perkins, 21, of Syracuse, and a 16-year-old, who is not being identified. They have all been charged with third degree assault, but police say further charges are pending if they determine this was a gang assault.
They are still asking to speak with anyone else who witnessed what happened on West Bridge Street. If you have more information you're asked to call (315) 342-8130.
