Jets fans had to show some true grit to sit through the team's first official practice in Cortland Saturday, as it was pouring rain for part of the day. Our Iris St. Meran spoke with people out at training camp and found out that a little weather wasn't going to dampen spirits.

Dominic Samoraj said, "It's awesome that they're here. I love Tim Tebow."

"Mark Sanchez, he's really good. We're a big fan of his and we just love the Jets," said Catherine Sanders.

They're proving their love is unconditional. As the weather got more dreary, some sought shelter, others just pulled out their umbrellas and braved the rain.

"It's pretty cool. Actually it's pretty chilly with a wet jacket on,” Mike Samoraj joked. “It's cool to come down with my son, a football player, get us excited about the upcoming high school season. Come down to see Tim Tebow."

Before the rain came, kids were able to get a taste of what it's like to play football at Jets Fest. It's an interactive section next to the practice field.

"Playing on the bounce houses, getting some autographs and having a great time," said Holiday Sanders, Jets Fest participant.

Because of the NFL lockout, there was no Jets camp last year, but that just gave fans more time to build up their excitement and hope.

“What am I hoping for the Jets this year? I'm hoping they make it all the way," said Pete Schafer.

If you didn't get to catch the Jets' first open practice there's still plenty of time. The next open practices will be in the morning Sunday and Monday from 8 to 11 a.m. at SUNY Cortland.
