ELMIRA, N.Y. -- NYSEG's restoration efforts are just about complete, as 95 percent of customers in their Elmira division now have power. The utility company has been working non-stop since Thursday when F-1 tornados touched down in Elmira and Corning, as well as Montrose and Bridgewater, Pennsylvania.

At the storm's peak, NYSEG was dealing with more than 57,000 outages spread all across the region. They say repairs had to be made to more than 30 miles of wires. They had more than 1,200 people out clearing trees, repairing power lines, and replacing 53 transformers.

NYSEG says the general cleanup will go on for days, but the vast majority of service is back up and running.

If anyone still needs dry ice or water, it will still be available today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at their service center in Horseheads, and also at Ernie Davis Middle School.
